The importance of establishing good relationships

In this episode, we speak to SHE Manager at Kier Highways, Dave McPherson and Health and Safety Officer at Great British Communications, Jessica Collings about the work they do, how they got into health & safety and their thoughts on the future of the profession.

Dave McPherson, was named as the winner of the SHP Award for Trailblazer in Health & Safety in 2021, for his passion, vision for improvement and commitment to influence change.

In the episode, Dave talks about his slightly unorthodox journey into safety and the importance of building a rapport and establishing good relationships with the people around you.

Then, we hear from Health and Safety Officer at Great British Communications Ltd., Jessica Collings, who was named SHP’s Rising Star in Construction. Jessica discusses the challenges of starting a role in a new career in the midst of a pandemic, shares some of the initiatives that she has helped to implement and highlights the importance of mentoring.
